Welshpool, Powys
Hogs Inn Pinewood
The original inn: an open fire, three cask ales, and Sunday lunch worth the walk.
The pub
Two bars, one very good fire
The front bar is the old part: flagstones, low beams, high-backed settles and the stone hearth the whole pub arranges itself around. The back room is quieter, laid for dinner, and opens onto the terrace and the valley beyond.
On the bar you'll find three Monty's cask ales — Old Hogg, Pinewood Pale and a rotating guest from our own brewery — along with the full Henstone range, a short and honest wine list, and cider from an orchard eleven miles away.
The kitchen cooks a short seasonal menu: pies and slow-braised meat in winter, lighter plates and things off the terrace oven in summer. Vegetarian and vegan dishes are on the main menu, not tucked away at the bottom.
